Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, established in pre-independent India, CSIR today is the largest industrial R&D organization of India, has immense strength of multidisciplinary R&D institutes (37), outreach/Incubation centres (~10) and units located across India that are contributing to societal and economic growth of India through technology development and S&T capacity building in a wide spectrum of S&T fields from oceanography, geophysics, chemicals, drugs, genomics, biotechnology and nanotechnology to mining, aeronautics, instrumentation, environmental engineering and information technology.
