Raksha Bandhan celebration in Essequibo

The High Commission of India and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, in association with Badrinath Asharam and Brahmakumaris celebrated Raksha Bandhan in Essequibo on 9th August 2025.

Speaking at the event, High Commissioner Dr Amit Telang underscored immense contribution of Indo-Guyanese diaspora in preserving their umbilical link with India through celebration of such festivals, following centuries-old traditions. Brahmakumaris tied Rakhis to the local community members sending out a message of unity, tolerance and inter-cultural understanding.

The High Commission donated musical instruments - Mridangam, Manjeera, Pakhawaj, flutes – and copies of Bhagwad Gita to Badrinath Ashram, Sada Shiva Naujawan Temple and Reliance Ram Krishna Mandir, Essequibo, as a symbol of longlasting friendship between the people of India and Guyana.
