Registration of Birth

Birth (out of India) of a new born child to Indian parent(s) should be first registered at following MHA website, where details/procedure are available. https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Home2.aspx?formcode=9

As a next step, birth of the new born should be registered at the High Commission in order to obtain the Indian passport. A Birth Certificate is issued to the child.

How to Apply:

  1. Duly fill and print out online MHA Application Form.
  2. Duly fill Miscellaneous Application form (CLICK HERE).
  3. Local Birth Certificate (Apostlle by Foreign Office) of new born along with a photocopy.
  4. 2 photographs.
  5. Self-attested copy of Address Proof such as Utility Bill/ Rent Lease/ Driving License/ Bank Statement etc.
  6. Self-Sworn Affidavit (CLICK HERE). It should be notarized
  7. Self-Sworn Affidavit (NOC) (CLICK HERE). It should be notarized.
  8. Original and Photocopy of Current Indian Passports of both parents.

            Please ensure that all required documents, are properly attached and submitted to the High Commission of India along with the fees.

            For delivery by courier please include the prepaid/return airway bill and account number inside the package, addressed to the: Attache (Consular), High Commission of India, 307 Church & Peter Rose Streets,            Queenstown, Georgetown, Guyana.

Consular Section is open from Monday to Friday in HCI, Georgetown as follows:

Consular Application Receiving time: From 0930 Hrs. to 1130 Hrs.

Consular Application Delivery time: From 1500 Hrs. to 1600 Hrs.

Photograph specifications

  1. Background of the photographs should be plain white and the dress should be in dark color.
  2. Expression of the face should be natural and ears and eyes should be visible.
  3. Photograph must be professional grade, clear and no reflection on face.
  4. The size of the photograph should be 51mm x 51mm (2 inches by 2 inches).
  5. Frontal view of full face, close of head and top of shoulder so that face takes up 60 – 70% of the photograph.

Signature/Thumb impression specifications

  1. Minor male applicants should put left hand thumb impression and female should put right hand thumb impression.
  1. Minor’s parents should not put their signature or thumb impression in the specimen signature box.
